Men's Soccer fights to draw
The old Forest Meadows Field was the site of a brutal clash this past Saturday
between the Penguins of Dominican Men's Soccer and their opponents, the
Mustangs of The Masters College.
The match included nine yellow cards and a
plethora of fouls. After taking a 1-0 lead into halftime off a goal by
Sophomore Forward Tim Pinella (assisted by Senior Defender Greg Wan,

Dominican would rally, tying the game off a goal late in regulation by
Sophomore Midfielder Shane Huiberts (assisted by Freshman Midfielder
Pedro Guevera,

settled for a 2-2 tie. Sophomore Goalkeeper Alex Bolt was impressive
with ten saves.
The team's record now stands at 0-1-1 as they look ahead to home matches this
week against Fresno Pacific (Tuesday, 4:00 pm) and Chaminade (Sunday, 1:00 pm).
Women's Soccer falls to 3-2 in Utah
The Dominican Women's Soccer team took its first two losses of the season
this past weekend at Westminster College in Utah. The Lady Penguins suffered
their first loss at the hands of the host Lady Griffons on Friday, falling
2-1. They closed their trip with another 2-1 loss, this time to the Lady
Eagles of Embry-Riddle on Saturday.
Sophomore Defender Michelle Mason scored the team's sole goal against
Westminster, a game which saw the Penguins give up only two shots on goal.
Junior Midfielder Eleanna Mendez scored against Embry-Riddle, assisted by
Sophomore Forward Bridget Folan. Sophomore Goalkeeper Alicia
Paulsen had five saves against the Lady Eagles.
The team's record fell to 3-2. They hope to rebound this week at home against
Fresno Pacific on Wednesday. That match begins at 3:00 pm. The team is 2-0 at
home this season and hopes to continue that streak.
